2022
Het was een druk jaar voor ons en onze collega’s in Hongarije. Met als dramatisch hoogtepunt het oplaaien van de oorlog in Oekraïne op 24 februari.
Maar eerst een samenvatting van de andere activiteiten.
Scholen
We hebben van de OBS H.M. van Randwijkschool in Ilpendam, de BS De Zuidwester in Den Haag, de OBS De Meander in Delfgauw en de BS De Regenboog – Naaldwijk bij elkaar bijna 1.500 stuks schoolmeubilair mogen ontvangen. Helaas hebben we bij vijf andere scholen het meubilair niet kunnen ophalen omdat we het niet georganiseerd kregen met andere grote projecten en met de hulpverlening aan Oekraïne, daarover later meer.
De meubels hebben hun bestemmingen gevonden in Hongarije en Roemenië.
Ziekenhuizen
Bij verschillende ziekenhuizen hebben we grote projecten gehad.
In februari verspreid over vier weken 600 matrassen uit het AZ Klina in Brasschaat (Be).
Eind mei de eerste ophaling van 160 bedden bij het Diaconessen ziekenhuis in Utrecht.
In juni bij het Amphia ziekenhuis in Breda waar we 600 matrassen hebben kunnen ophalen op vier aaneengesloten dagen. Daarnaast de tweede ophaling van 260 bedden in Utrecht, in totaal zo’n 420 bedden.
In juni en september bijna 300 bedden van het Sint Maria ziekenhuis in Halle (Be).
Tussen 5 en 23 september zijn meer dan 800 bedden opgehaald bij het UZ Gent te Gent (Be).
Begin december nog 45 bedden en matrassen bij het St. Jan ziekenhuis in Brugge (Be)
In januari 2023 moeten nog resterende bedden worden opgehaald bij het UZ Gent en AZ Sint Elisabeth in Herentals (Be); dit zou in de week voor Kerstmis hebben gemoeten maar er was geen transportbedrijf te vinden voor die periode. Onze collega’s zijn niettemin naar Gent gegaan om de bedden zoveel mogelijk bijeen te zetten om opslagruimte in het ziekenhuis te beperken.
Dit alles is mogelijk geworden door de goede samenwerking tussen Hillrom België , DistracGroup, de diverse ziekenhuizen, de mensen van NEEKA Hungary en Suryaproject.eu. Onze collega’s van NEEKA Hungary hebben duizenden kilometers gereden en zijn weken lang in Nederland en België geweest om dit allemaal voor elkaar te brengen. Een groot compliment is daarom op zijn plaats.
Diversen
We hebben op verschillende momenten meubilair kunnen ophalen bij diverse vestigingen van GGNet. Dit werd steeds gecombineerd met ophalingen elders.
Ook hebben ze onze garage een aantal keren leeggemaakt. Geschat zo’n 5 ton kleding voornamelijk van de tweedehands kledingwinkel in Malden, enorm veel incontinentie materiaal gedoneerd door verschillende partijen, speelgoed en nog veel meer. Bijzonder is te melden de babykleertjes gemaakt door een groep uit Groesbeek die deze ons jaarlijks schenken en ook eenmalig babykleertjes vanuit de Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation in Nederland. Deze hebben hun bestemming gevonden onder meer in Csenger, Gezinsondersteunende dienst en in Fehérgyarmat, Verloskunde afdeling van het ziekenhuis.
Oorlog in Oekraïne
Na de inval in Oekraïne in 2014 is Rusland constant bezig geweest om haar leger verder in stelling te brengen rondom Oekraïne. Eind 2021 was te zien dat het om een serieuze dreiging ging die uiteindelijk leidde in de inval op 24 februari. Opnieuw oorlog in Europa.
Direct zijn onze collega’s begonnen met het Inrichten van opvanglocaties in Hongarije voor vluchtelingen uit oorlogsgebied
De eerste maanden hebben zij bijna elke twee dagen een hulp konvooi naar Mukacheve gestuurd en van daar uit gedistribueerd naar diverse andere steden zoals Kyiv en Bucha.
Suryaproject heeft in samenwerking met Stichting de Keilbout in Malden een vrachtauto met hulpgoederen gestuurd naar Oekraïne via het depot van NEEKA Hungary in Nyírmeggyes.
Diverse inzamelingsacties hebben geleidt tot verschillende donaties; deze hebben via NEEKA Hungary een bestemming gekregen voor hulp aan de burgers in Oekraïne.
2022
It was a busy year for us and our colleagues in Hungary. With the dramatic climax of the outbreak of war in Ukraine on February 24.
But first a summary of the other activities.
Schools
We received almost 1,500 pieces of school furniture from the OBS H.M. van Randwijkschool in Ilpendam, the BS De Zuidwester in The Hague, the OBS De Meander in Delfgauw and the BS De Rainbow – Naaldwijk. Unfortunately, we were unable to collect the furniture from five other schools because we were unable to organize it with other major projects and with aid to Ukraine, more on that later.
The furniture has found its destination in Hungary and Romania.
Hospitals
We have had major projects at various hospitals.
In February, 600 mattresses from the AZ Klina in Brasschaat (Be) spread over four weeks.
At the end of May the first collection of 160 beds at the Deaconessen hospital in Utrecht.
In June at the Amphia hospital in Breda where we were able to collect 600 mattresses on four consecutive days. In addition, the second collection of 260 beds in Utrecht, a total of about 420 beds.
In June and September almost 300 beds of the Sint Maria hospital in Halle (Be).
Between 5 and 23 September, more than 800 beds were collected from UZ Gent in Ghent (Be).

In January 2023, remaining beds must be collected from UZ Gent and AZ Sint Elisabeth in Herentals (Be); this should have been done the week before Christmas but no transport company could be found for that period. Our colleagues nevertheless went to Ghent to put the beds together as much as possible in order to limit storage space in the hospital.
All this has become possible due to the good cooperation between Hillrom Belgium, DistracGroup, the various hospitals, the people of NEEKA Hungary and Suryaproject.eu. Our colleagues from NEEKA Hungary have driven thousands of kilometers and spent weeks in the Netherlands and Belgium to bring this all together. A big compliment is therefore in order.
Miscellaneous
We have been able to collect furniture at various locations of GGNet at various times. This was always combined with collections elsewhere.
They also emptied our garage a number of times. Estimated about 5 tons of clothing mainly from the secondhand clothing store in Malden, huge amounts of incontinence material donated by various parties, toys and much more. Special is to mention the baby clothes made by a group from Groesbeek who donate them to us every year as well as one-off baby clothes from the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization in the Netherlands. These have found their destination in among other Csenger, Family Support Service and in Fehérgyarmat, Obstetrics department of the hospital.
War in Ukraine
After the invasion of Ukraine in 2014, Russia has been constantly deploying its army around Ukraine. At the end of 2021, it could be seen that it was a serious threat that eventually led to the raid on February 24. War in Europe again.
Our colleagues immediately started setting up reception locations in Hungary for refugees from war zones
In the first months they sent an aid convoy almost every two days to Mukacheve and distributed from there to various other cities such as Kyiv and Bucha.
Suryaproject, in collaboration with Stichting de Keilbout in Malden, sent a truck with relief supplies to Ukraine via the NEEKA Hungary depot in Nyírmeggyes.
Various fundraisers have resulted in various donations; these have been allocated through NEEKA Hungary to help the citizens of Ukraine.
